The following is provided courtesy of our ABC network;
| Quote: | Cricket's most famous trophy, the Ashes, is on show at the Museum of Sydney.
It is only the second time in history the original Ashes urn has been displayed in Australia.
The curator of London's Marylebone Cricket Club, Adam Chadwick, said the urn would be in Sydney for three weeks and then taken around Australia.
"In 2002 when we first hoped to bring it out it was just to come to Sydney and Melbourne, but actually on revision we're trying to get it to be seen by as many people as possible," he said.
"So we're off to Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Hobart."
Mr Chadwick said the urn was more than just a trophy.
"The little urn, it's a real symbol isn't it?," he said.
"It's not a trophy as such, it's really a symbol of all the rivalry and all the friendship between Australia and England. It's great and isn't it fantastic that it's only three-and-a-half inches tall?"
The Ashes urn will be displayed around Australia over the next three months. |
As most of you know, England presently hold the Ashes, but, can they win here in Australia and take The Urn (held in the above image by Steve Waugh, Alan Border & Mark Taylor), back with them?
Any predictions....? _________________ Always remember.... the Search Button is your friend |

I couldn't stand it here in London if we didn't win again!
We have to get it back, just have to _________________ Fatso, Garfield, Oscar, Rancho Spark and Pete say hi from London (they're my fish!) |

Hello there lady jane and to our Forums.
Just about every cricket follower in Australia is of the opinion that England will not win one Test Match in the upcoming series. This is probably due to the fact that they (England), are plagued with injuries and some players that were in their winning Ashes side, are not touring at all.
Also, their relatively poor performance in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, only seems to reinforce this, albeit, that this is a One Day competition.
Having said that, I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the Series will be a draw, which, would mean that England would retain the Ashes. Perhaps that should have been an option in the poll in this thread, but we will just have to wait and see how England perform in the first Test, which will begin in Brisbane on Thursday, November 23.... _________________ Always remember.... the Search Button is your friend |

Interesting - I think Australia will win. I really do! But then I have always suffered from incurable optimism when it comes to my team.
They've been playing some sterling cricket since the last test, and England, well, they've been pretty medicore.
To be honest, when England claimed victory last time, the thing that upset me most wasn't so much that they were the victors - I think they deserved it and simply played better. What annoyed me was everyone in London professing to suddenly be a cricket expert. Oh, it was so frustrating! No one gave a brass razoo about it until the win.......and ever since, the game has still taken a back seat to football and hurling and got knows what else.
One thing I know for sure, it's going to be one hell of a rematch!!! I cannot wait for it.
Go Aussie Go!!!
And as I live in England and have done for the past umpteen years and love it, I have to wish the UK side the best of luck.
May the best team win!!!! _________________ Fatso, Garfield, Oscar, Rancho Spark and Pete say hi from London (they're my fish!) |

Well, so much for going out on a limb
My prediction of a Drawn Series, seemed to be a legitimate call, until the Umpire called "Play" in the First Innings of the opening Test Match, in Brisbane....
What do the England team do now, I wonder. Can they actually bounce back and win any of the remaining 2 Test Matches? _________________ Always remember.... the Search Button is your friend |
