On very careful study of the Vietnamese public aquarium, I saw the feeding hatches are on a line with the 2 holding tanks. The glass for the tunnel reaches from slightly below the holding tank level to about 6 feet above. The tunnels water is maintained by vacuum. But the feeding hatches are an optical illusion. Not subject to the vacuum of the tunnel.
Of course "muggins" didn't twig until I built a smaller version to bench test.

So maybe Betas can make use of the boxes as bubble nests? _________________ Laurie Lee Duman

I have now combined the tunnel with an inverted aquarium. The fish can take the same route as the mini sub. _________________ Laurie Lee Duman |

As the water is held in by a "vacuum", a power cut has no effect.Think of it like a glass in a sink full of water. When you lift the glass out upside down, the water stays in until the edge breaks free of the water. That is the vacuum holding back the water,What I am doing is making the vacuum artificially.Either with a vacuum pump or just a tube pushed to the highest point and suck out the air.

The upside down aquarium is quite easy.In fact we did the same thing on an upside down goldfish bowl. The tunnel is a bit more involved but well worth the effort. _________________ Laurie Lee Duman |
