I am new to the site and need help with my angel fish. I have had the fish for three years. Bloating and is staying at the bottom of the tank. She is breathing very heavily. Once an a while she will try and swim to the top. This is the second day. I have done two water changes and added epson salt. I am totally lost and do not want to lose the fish. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You say she looks bloated, if you look at her from above can you see scales sticking out in a pinecone effect?

if you can it is probably dropsy, which unfortunately normally results in the fishes demise.

If you can't see and scales sticking out it may be something else

have a look through the illnesses on this website and see if any of them match the symptoms

Thamks for the information. I looked at her from the top and there are sticking up. I put her in a 2 and half gallon tank and are giving her t.c. capsules. But if what you said is true then she will not make it. In your opinion would you put her down.

IS she still feeding? does she seem uncomfortable?

It is a very difficult illness to treat, but it's always worth a try

you could try:

Interpet#9 - Anti Internal Bacteria

it may not work but as i said, surely worth a try.

Also you should consider what triggered the illness in the first place, it is usually caused by internal infections. I could also be due to poor water quality and/or poor diet

All the best, let us know how you get on
